Saurabh Garg, Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), has highlighted that India’s inaugural household income survey will be a highly challenging undertaking.
He stressed that public awareness campaigns and strict guarantees of anonymity will be key to encouraging participation. Given the sensitive nature of income-related questions, households’ trust will be crucial for collecting accurate data.
The survey is expected to offer a detailed understanding of income and expenditure patterns across Indian households, enabling policymakers to craft more effective social welfare programs and economic strategies.
MoSPI is preparing its enumerators with special training to ensure smooth, confidential, and accurate data collection throughout the process.
